Well, after a week of fairly cool temperatures, and a lot of rain....the forecast for this week sounds amazing - here's hoping! :)

We're still just under two weeks away from Mother's Day, so don't forget to pick up something for that special Woman in your life.  I do have some filled Flower Boxes and other smaller planters - you can still pick one up now, and then you're not left scrambling the day before ( like so many of us sometimes do! ).

One gallon Rhudbeckia (Black-Eyed Susans) are now ready for sale - 1 Gallon Pots only $2.00!!

I still have lots of 1 Gallon perennials in stock: Gypsophila (perennial Baby's Breathe), Bearded Iris'(purple), Lily of the Valley(white), Sedum, Willamette Raspberry,  Everybearing Strawberry, Oregano, Thyme, and now Rhudbeckia - still only $2.00 per 1 gallon pot.  5 Gallon Rhubarb ( ready to plant in the ground with ready stocks ), only $10.00.

I had the awesome opportunity to Volunteer at the Annual Van Dusen Plant Sale over the weekend, and it was crazy!!!  I have a very good friend, Sara, who has attended this annual event for years (tried to get me to go, but I always had prior engagements), and she raved about the selection and the overall pandemonium.  Well it was absolutely hilarious.  Sunday's sale started at 10am sharp, and all of a sudden I felt a rumbling on the ground and overwhelming noise, only to realize quickly that is was not an earthquake, but over 10,000 people running at the starting line to make their way into the gardens for the sale. People were running up and almost yelling " Do you have a Fuji Apple Tree! Do you have Blueberry bushes?!" It was so crazy!  I loved it!  I was helping my new friend Derry from Derry Orchards in Langley.  Her and her friend Laurelle specialize in Fruit Trees and Berry plants - and Derry has been teaching me how to graft my own Apple Trees, which I am having some great success!  This will be something that I will be adding to my farm, and I'm very excited.  I grafted 10 Liberty Apple trees in early March of this year and they have all taken - so very excited about my new skill!

Coming Soon: Variety of Herbs in 4 inch pots, Herb Planters ( various sizes and prices ), and QUINOA (first time trying this wheat-like product).

Fresh Rhubarb is now available - 75 cents per pound.  Email me, text or phone to order ahead!

Happy Gardening!

Happy Easter to you all!
I hope you had some time to spend with family and/or friends this weekend.

I do wish it would get a little warmer now, things are growing in the greenhouse, but it should be warmer by now, for even more growth.  As you can probably tell, I'm ready to GO!!!!

My daffodils are all sold out for the year, it was a great year for daffodils - I may have to plant more next year! :)

I do have some things available now though.  This time of year is perfect for planting perennials - the ground is still cool, so the root system has time to climatize.

Put some colour in your shady areas - I have beautiful 'Miss Kim' Lilacs, that are so close to blooming - gorgeous lavendar-blue flowers and amazing scent.  The shrubs only get about 3 feet high, so they're great in any corner of your shade garden.  Only $20.00 each.
I also have a great variety of Rhododendrons: 2 dwarf varieties that are blooming now - Impeditum and Ramapo(see picture below) - only $15.00 each.  I also have a few larger varieties of Rhodo - Hellikki (beautiful red flowers), Helsinki University (lighter pink flowers), and Nova Zembla (red flowers, that can almost look fuschia in colour) - all $20.00 each.

If you need some privacy, I have some Vine Maples - that have stunning colour in the Fall. $20.00 each.

Also, in the fruit & veggie department - my first cut of rhubarb is now ready.  Only 75 cents per pound.  I'm ready to start taking orders Monday, April 21st.  I will cut the day of the order, as I want you to have the freshest rhubarb!

Please stop by any time: Yakashiro Farm & Gardens, 28875 Haverman Road, Abbotsford, BC  in beautiful Bradner, BC!
If you need anything, including ordering rhubarb, please call my Cell# 604-556-1330, or text me - or email: myakashiro@shaw.ca

Hope to see you soon!

What a Weekend for the Opening!

What a Weekend for the Opening!

I was so thrilled with the amount of people that came through on the Weekend!  It was a great opening, and I couldn't be happier.  I even had a friend from Elementary school come all the way from Squamish!  What a thrill to see you Nina!

Three beautiful sunny days have really made everything pop in the greenhouse finally.  I don't heat my greenhouse, so I'm really leaving it up to mother nature to help me out.  I still feel like I'm about 3 weeks behind because of all the very cold weather we had this late Winter, but it's looking promising now!

I had quite a few folks ask me about herbs this weekend.  A lot of people are starting to want to have Herb Gardens at their homes.  Last year I did a few really fun Herb Baskets, and they were very popular, so I will be having some again this year, and expanding on that as well.  All the people that purchased the Herb Baskets from me last year, if you want to update them for this year, it will only be a $10.00 charge - so let me know.  The herbs I will have for this year are: Oregano, Thyme, Mint, Dill, Marjoram, Chives, Summer Savory, Cilantro, Basil, and Parsley.

Come on by any time.  I have the stand open 7 days a week, from 9am - 6 or 7pm, depending on the weather.

If there is anything in particular you are looking for, or would like to have in your garden this Spring in Summer, please let me know, and I'll do my best to help you out.  And if I don't have, or won't have it, I will know where you can go to get it.  Oh, and PS I sold out of my Annabelle Hydrangeas this weekend, but sourcing out some more for next Season!

Please feel free to share this blog with your friends, family and fellow gardeners!
Cheers!

Well, it's almost time!  Friday is MY Grand Opening - April 11th

Besides everything I posted last, there will also be cut daffodils.....of course, and a few other surprises.  I have a few 'flower boxes', and 'wire flower pots' - great for gifts, or for yourself!  Put a little Spring Colour in your home!  See the photos below!

You will also find a variety of home-made jams (blueberry, blackberry, strawberry, raspberry, and strawberry-rhubarb), PLUS home-made pickles, pickled beets, hot dilly beans (great in Caesars!), sweet pickles, hot pickled peppers (not for the faint of heart), and red onion marmalade (awesome with goat cheese and crackers).  Yes, I made these myself!

There is also a great variety of Dried Herbs to choose from: all the herbs are grown here on the farm, and are either hang-dried or dehydrated ( No sprays used! ).

In the field, ready to dig for you: Rhododendrons, Lilac Bushes, Hydrangeas, Maple Trees

Lots of fresh veggies and cut flowers coming in the Summer!

Keep MY Farm in mind for Pumpkin Season in Fall!  We had some amazing mini pumpkins, gourds and large pumpkins last year, and will be growing many of the same again this year!

Hope to see you this weekend!     Cheers!  Mandy
