Oh my!
I can't believe it's been a month since my last Blog Post. Sorry!
With all this incredible heat and no rain, I've been run off my feet to say the least!
Remarkably, there are things growing in my field!
Now available:
Zuchinni, Blueberries ( not sprayed ), Green Beans, Carrots, Cabbage, Beets and lots of Potatoes ( both German Butter & Yukon Gold ).
Unfortunately with this incredible heat, many of the cut flowers that I normally grow are just melting in the field. Dahlias have just started, and I'm praying that we get some rain soon. If you believe in the power of prayer, please pray for some rain. I don't irrigate the fields, and normally even with a hot Summer, everything does so well, but this year, everything is basically budding, splitting, opening and dying the same day. Very frustrating for me as I was growing a ton of flowers for my two oldest daughters' weddings coming up in August. I hope that we will have some to enjoy for the weddings, but I just don't know.
Also, some more bad news for all you customers that enjoy my wonderful pickled items and jams. Fraser Health gave me a visit and told me because I don't have a commercial kitchen specifically dedicated to the canning products, I cannot sell them to the public - very sad for me. I do have my Food Safe Certificate, and I am extremely cautious when preparing food for the public, but apparently that is not enough for Fraser Health.
If you do happen to pop in, and want some of those items, and you see me around the property, I will sell to you, I just can't have them in the Stand any longer - Sorry.
Good News!
My garlic crop is amazing this year, and I will have some available starting next week - as well as red & yellow onions coming very soon!
My blueberries are huge and very sweet this year - I do sell them by the small carton, but if you would like a flat, please let me know, and I will pick that for you specifically. A flat is $30.00
I will be closing the Stand on two different days in August, for my daughters' weddings here on the farm - August 2nd and August 22nd - so stock up before and after!
Hope to see you soon! And thank you to all of the regular customers I have - you all make my work feel worth while!
Warm regards,
Mandy

Hello out there!
Well, with this crazy warm weather, everything, and I mean everything is blooming and ripening earlier than normal.
This morning, I picked my first bucket of blueberries - yes they're for sale at the Big Stand - stop by. This is only the first pick, lots more to come because my blueberry field is loaded!
Also, first pick yesterday of my most gorgeous Russian Iris' - these have to be my favourite flowers that I grow - the only problem is that they can have a short shelf life, so come quickly if you want to have some in your home!
Also, I cut my first Sunflowers this morning as well! AHHHHHH!! But, they are absolutely gorgeous! First cuts always have really thick stems, and as the season progresses, the stems get thinner and more manageable, but these are just gorgeous!
I only have two heads of broccoli left, as of one hour ago, so hurry in, the next round won't be ready for awhile, and zuchinni is about a week away, but if they show up earlier than I expect, I'll put out a quick notice as well!
Have an amazing weekend everyone!

Good Morning!
Have you noticed that there's hardly any rhubarb to be found anywhere, and when you do find some, it's spindly and expensive. The thought of most rhubarb farmers is that because of exceptionally warm Winter that we had ( not enough cold and freezing days ), the rhubarb plants are fighting back. I had a customer tell me that she went to a local market and the rhubarb was skinny and looked poorly, and the store was still asking $3.99 per pound! Crazy! Come see me! The rhubarb is not the prettiest I've ever harvested, but if you're just using it to make jams and for baking, it's still great.......and I still only charge $1.00 per pound. I have them in 2 pound bags in the fridge at the Big Stand - so stop by soon and pick some up. If you need more than what I've got when you come, please phone ahead, and I'll put some aside for you! :) Hopefully the plants will perk up a little for the next cuts.
I have many beautiful Peonies, Delphiniums, Sweet Williams & Alstromaeria cut and at the Big Stand. I tried putting some out at the roadside stand, but it's just too warm with the sun beating on them, so the shaded, and refrigerated area in the Big Stand just work better.
All the pumpkin and squash plants are now in the fields, and growing well. There's even flowers on some of the squash plants, and small pumpkins starting too!
Broccoli should be ready by this weekend - looks great this year!
El Nino has really made itself known this year, all over the world. Floods where there has never been floods, rains of crazy amounts, and droughts and heat where there normally is cooler weather. We've been hit by the heat and not enough rain this year, and it's been a little frustrating. Please be patient with all of us farmers, as we try and adjust to this weather this year. Unless farmers have irrigation in their greenhouses and fields, it's a little harder, and taking a little longer to get the product we're used to harvesting. It's supposed to rain some in the next few days here, which I know I am really looking forward to, as I do not have irrigation in my fields, and every drop counts!
Take care, and hope to see you soon!

Plus, if you do have a little sunny area of garden space, why not try growing your own Quinoa?! I have one gallon pots for only $3.00 each
Also, one last item - Starting Wednesday - Hydrangea and Rhododendron Sale - 5 - 10 gallon pots only $10.00 each! Regular prices from $15 - $25 each.
